“Go Ahead and Hate Your Neighbor, Go Ahead and Cheat Your Friend…”

This line from the song “One Tin Soldier,” sadly sums up what I’ve been witnessing for some time now.

Hating someone with different beliefs seems to be the norm these days. Obviously, someone hated Charlie Kirk for his beliefs. Their hate grew to a point where they finally killed him.

This makes no sense to me. I have more good friends than I deserve. Many of them share my beliefs, but some don’t. As long as they’re good people, I don’t care what they believe. They might be right, nobody died and made me God. I have my beliefs and they have theirs. That should be good enough for anyone.

As I write this, 4 names come to mind – Kim, Stephen, Rick and Tom. I won’t embarrass these people by using their last names. One I haven’t met in person, but I love and respect them all as much as any friend who shares my personal and political beliefs. It’s safe to say their political views are about 180 degrees from my own.

I will stand up and support these 4 people no matter what! Regardless of our differences, they are my cherished friends. (Like it or not, they’re stuck with me.) I will back them for my life.

I hope that some people reading this might take a moment and think about their feelings. Just because someone is on the other side of the political and/or religious fence doesn’t diminish them as human beings. If they’re good people, they deserve your respect, friendship and love.

May God bless us all and comfort the family and friends of Charlie Kirk!
